Meet Valeria of Colombia on Day 2 of the Second Annual CF Vests Worldwide 8 Days of Love Fundraising Campaign to benefit Cystic Fibrosis patients around the world with Cystic Fibrosis Therapy Vests
Introducing Cystic Fibrosis patient Valeria of San Jose, Colombia.
Valeria was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at 8 months old. From there our lives changed completely with therapies, nebulizations, medicines and vitamins. This was a whole new routine for her and us, her parents, as no one is prepared to receive such news.
Percussion therapies with hand beats have been difficult due to inexperience and the lack of education that we have received in Colombia. Also, because Valeria is a baby, she does not let us do the therapies well. In this regard, Valeria is very small and is not able to pass mucus out by herself. Without the percussion therapies, it is difficult for her to expel mucus out of her lungs.
The vest is a solution that helps us to seriously remove the mucus from her lungs.
CF Vests Worldwide has donated 306 vests to Cystic Fibrosis patients in 58 countries, with several dozen more CF patients to serve with therapy vests across the globe.
